Brian, can you give me a few nice pics of your wheels? Up close straight on and maybe a slight angle? It would be a big help in getting to look right. I'm kind of on the modular thing now.....but some pics would help |

Thanks again and yes there is always a beer here with your name on it. They really do look like the hidden bolt 3pcs. where the center meets the rim....I'm sure that's on purpose. I'll CAD up a 3pcs design and see how it looks and go from there. I also need to get the tires off at least 1 set of the 550 wheels and get them sold so I know what my budget is. |

I gotta wonder why I'm not just making the wheels from carbon fiber? |

Very nice. Look very much like a factory front wheel which what you had asked me for all measurements and photos of. Pretty darned cool. Note that the factory rear wheel is 1 inch wider than the front (rear 8.00"x16"; front 7.00"x16") (factory tire spec is 205/55R16 front and 225/50R16 rear). The rear wheel has a groove where the front has a ridge. Visually, front and back balance but I thought I'd bring this to your attention in case modeling your wheels after the rear wheel rather than the front is structurally or aesthetically beneficial.

Thanks Brian, looking at the rear wheel is on my today of tomorrow list so perfect. I was in a hurry yesterday and realized I ran out of time to put the pictures here and was trying to decide if I should start a new thread with a more appropriate title...any didn't mean to put anything there that isn't here ![]() The front shows as 16.5lbs currently but there is still some work to do on it...it will probably get lighter. As I said I want to start the rear wheel and then see how the 2 compare and go from there. I'm also thinking a bit about how I'd mold it exactly....I have visions of a foam core int he hub and spokes but I need to think a bit about that.

I got the shape a little happier....stating to get stressed stuff lined up better. I thought I was just going to get it looking the way I wanted then create a hollow shell but it's a little to complex for that to work so I think I need to redraw it to be hollow from the start. The way its drawn I just change the width and offset and its a rear....I see 1 error but I'll fix that on the redraw I guess. The front wheel solid as is is 17.3 lbs. I put it into the printing software which shells (but won't give any output but g-code) and it says 12.2lbs for the shelled part....the final version will be between those numbers.

Redrawn....13.9lbs. A few things to fix on the model for the rear but its at 15.4lbs at the moment.
